Golden Screen Cinemas has opened its second flagship cinema in the Klang Valley recently. Members from Annwyn and LOTRien made a strong showing on 25 and 26th June 2005, turning up as characters from LotR, Star Wars and Harry Potter.

Annwyn members and friends held a Halloween dinner and movie party on the 29th October 2005 in KLCC. Starting the night with a cuppa from Coffee Bean, we adjoined for dinner at Chilis while still in our costumes. Stomachs groaning with too much food, we headed to TGV for a viewing of Corpse Bride, and yet another cuppa after that.

Held July 14, '07 at Midvalley Megamall, the party had a short and sweet meal at Burger King and then caught Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at GSC upstairs after a walk around the mall.

Yo-ho, yo-ho, a Pirates' night for them! Annwyn hosts the first gathering of the Lords of the SEA (Southeast Asian) Court at The Ship restaurant in Bukit Bintang, after the fashion of the Brethren Court. Claiming territories in and around Malaysia in which to fly their colours, the Captains lay down their swords and guns (as long as dinner lasted, anyway) for an evening of swash-swash-buckle-buckle fun. For the rowdier half of the lot, the outing carried on till the clock struck 2a.m. Hopefully the next time our venerable Court meets, the mascot survives to tell the tale.

In May 2008, the Pevensies returned to Narnia and so did the Annwyners. The following pictures 'Chronicle' their adventures over the weekend of the 17th and 18th of May. The delightfully loud and conspicuous Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy Festival at Sunway Pyramid on 13-14 December, 2008 saw Annwyn SEA Court Lords Sparrow, Turner, Swann and Beckett return with a vengeance to face the wily Jones and his sharky henchman Maccus. Sporting shoppers took part in energetic games to win prizes and the evenings were studded with local celebrities to draw the civilians to their destiny (watching the trilogy on Star Movies).

It is baaaack! Movie Carnival 2009 promises to be bigger, wilder, more fun... well, you get the story.

This time around, Annwyn played a significant role in promoting the movie fan base. From running competitions, to walking around as costume characters from X-men, Pirates of the Caribbean, Narnia and add a couple of skits to boot, Annwyn had its collective thumb in almost every pie. And we love it!

It's wonderful how being a costumer helps one to better appreciate/mock the efforts of others in the same spot. The uncostumed entity commonly known as Anakin drops by Movie Fiesta 2008 at VivoCity, Singapore on June 7th, 2008 to catch a Superhero character appearance and a Superhero Cosplay competition (and also watched the Clone Wars trailer about 10 times in a row). The cosplay participants either came in their own stuff or rented costumes at the Superhero Factory at the venue. So, how does it feel to be the photo opportunist instead of the photo opportunity? Once in a while, it's a heck of a lot of fun! (Pictures taken by Mom!)

On July 14, 2005, Pippin, Haldir, Galadriel, and Gimli with a little help from their friends managed a daring feat- to spend one night in costume watching all three Lord of the Rings movies (the first two being the extended version) back-to-back at Nokia Starlight Cinema's LotR movie marathon, briefly falling asleep only once somewhere in the middle. What a run it was!

Last week, MySciFiFan's Outpost Cafe hosted a very important event- the launch of the Hasbro and Lego Clone Wars line in Malaysia. The pre-launch party began at 10pm on the 25th and lasted as long as the last Jedi standing at around 1.30am! There were screenings of the Clone Wars theatrical trailer, costumed characters and photoshoots (of course!), and trivia games with prizes, followed by a Midnight Sale of the exciting new products.
